Description: This genealogical database provides a searchable record of individuals who appear in Irish workhouse registers between 1847 and 1867 — a critical period spanning the aftermath of the Great Famine and the decades that followed. Drawn from a range of range of sources across Ireland, this databases lists the names, ages, occupations, family connections, and admission details of around 6,1000 men, women, and children who sought relief during this turbulent time.
This database represents the first stage of a larger ongoing project, with additional records and expanded coverage of Irish workhouses to be added in the coming months. Current registers and lists include:
- Ballymoney Workhouse Register, 1843-1856
- Deaths in Skibbereen Workhouse, December 1846
- Irvinestown Workhouse Admission Register, 1846-1848
- Return of Paupers in Irish Workhouses born in England, Scotland and Wales, 1863
