The Late William Blacker, Esq./William Blacker, Esq., descended from, and connected with, some of the most ancient families in this county, was one of the younger sons of the late Rev. Dr. St. John Blacker, his mother being a sister of the late Major-General Sir Barry Close, Bart. Engaged in early life largely in mercantile pursuits, he devoted himself, at a maturer period, to the development of the agricultural and economic resources of the country; and, having under his care the management of several most important estates in the north of Ireland, especially those of the Earl of Gosford, Lord Bangor, his relative Colonel Close, &c., &c., he was enabled to see carried into practice, and report, from actual experience, results which others merely theorised upon./It would be beside the purpose of this brief notice to do more than advert shortly to some of these works; to enlarge at all on them would involve us in a memoir not merely of an individual, but the discussion of most, if not all, the Vexatlaee Questiones of the day relative to Agriculture and Economics, Poor law, Corn law, and Currency included./By his popularly written
