Title: Valuations for the Doagh Area: First Valuation c. 1835 and Griffith’s Valuation c. 1861
Description: This database includes names from two nineteenth-century valuations. The First (or Townland) Valuation was primarily concerned with the agricultural value of land, but it also included details on houses valued at £3 or over (in 1838 this was raised to £5 or over). The names of householders have been extracted from the First Valuation field-books for the Doagh area. The Primary Valuation of Ireland, better known as Griffith’s, was the first truly comprehensive valuation in Ireland. The names of all rate-payers (usually heads of household) for Doagh, Holestone, Kilbride and Coggrey. The complete information will be found on Ask About Ireland which not only includes scans of the original pages from Griffith’s Valuation, but also scans of the accompanying valuation maps.
