Title: Electors of the Borough of Belfast
Date: 1832
Description: This database is taken from a printed source, Electors of the Borough of Belfast Registered at the Special Sessions under the Reform Act Distinguishing How Each of Them Voted at the First Election, which was published in Belfast in 1833.
The election in question was the general election of 1832. In Belfast, the polls opened on 17 December. There were four candidates: Lord Arthur Chichester, James Emerson Tennent, William Sharman Crawford and Robert James Tennent. Each elector had two votes. Those returned to the House of Commons were Lord Arthur Chichester and James Emerson Tennent.
The database includes the name, occupation and address of the elector and the names of the candidates for whom he voted (a few electors did not take part in the election). A few annotations were added to the printed source, mainly to indicate if an elector was deceased.
