In 2023 the Foundation was gifted a substantial collection of books by the McAtamney family. These had belonged to Michael McAtamney, a Trustee of the Ulster Historical Foundation from 1993 to 2005.

He joined the Foundation Board just after retiring from the Royal Ulster Constabulary, in which he served with distinction for 46 years, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief Constable. Michael passed away in October 2020 at the age of 92.

He was a man whose counsel was respected, and he was a firm supporter of our activities during his period as Trustee.
