Family historians will be well aware of the value of newspapers in the hunt for their ancestors. The greater access to newspapers online is one of the reasons for the transformation of genealogical research in recent times. However, nothing beats the chance to browse old newspapers in person and few things can be more distracting (in an enjoyable way!).

A number of years ago Joe Baker of Belfast History Project kindly donated bound volumes of the Belfast Newsletter, 1955-97, which are available to view in our offices at Kiltonga, Newtownards. In May 2024, we were delighted to receive bound copies of the Belfast Telegraph from Joe and his colleagues covering the years 1960-90, which will also be available once we have shelving in place.
