Familia: Ulster Genealogical Review is the journal of Ulster Historical Foundation's membership association (an historical research co-operative, known as the Ulster Genealogical and Historical Guild). Each year, in December, members receive Familia and a directory of their research interests, entitled Directory of Irish Family History Research. Non-members can purchase copies of these books. Since 1985, Familia has set a consistently high standard of balanced articles of wider historical and biographical importance, and providing all-important practical advice on sources for Irish family and local history in the nine-county province of Ulster. This issue of Familia contains the following articles: Canada and Ireland – two divided countries – an historical perspective (Michael Perceval Maxwell) The Anglo-Irish tradition and Anglo-Irish migration to colonial Australia (Gordon Forth) A world stage for Irish music (Labhras O Murchu) The Ordnance Survey Memoirs of Ireland (Patrick McWilliams) Los Irlandeses en La Argentina (Pat Nally) Tracing your Leitrim ancestors (Sean O Suilleabhain) Patterns of marriage in 19th and 20th century Ireland (Sean Connolly) The movement of British settlers into Ulster during the 17th century (W. A. Macafee) On the First Fair Wind (Gary J. Ford) Reconstructing an immigrant family from United States’ records (Edward J. O'Day) An observation on settler names in Fermanagh (Brian S. Turner) Sources for the history of Belfast in the 17th and early 18th centuries (Jean Agnew) Irish Emigration to Canada: the directive role of William Hutton (C. J. Houston and W. J. Smyth) The McGuckins of Desertmartin, Co. Londonderry (John H. McGuckin Jr.)
