In January 2007 filming took place in Belfast of an episode in the RTE version of the popular genealogical series Who Do You Think You Are? The featured celebrity was the singer Linda Martin, winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1992.
Previously the Foundation had carried out extensive research into Linda’s roots and discovered that her family was originally Italian – the surname was originally Martini – and had come to Belfast in the latter part of the nineteenth century.
Siobhan Deane, the Foundation’s genealogical researcher who had conducted the investigations into Linda’s family history, accompanied the film crew around different locations in Belfast and Dublin. Dr Eamon Phoenix, UHF Trustee, was also interviewed for the show.
