Title: Names of claimants for compensation for losses after the 1798 Rebellion
Description: Returns exist for a number of Irish counties concerning those who suffered losses in the 1798 Rebellion and who had submitted claims for compensation by 6 April 1799. This database includes the claims submitted from counties Antrim, Carlow, Clare, Cork, Down, Dublin, Galway, Kildare, Kilkenny, King's County (Offaly), Leitrim, Longford, Meath, Queen's County (Laois), Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath and Wexford. The number of names varies considerably between counties, with over 2,000 names for Wexford, but only a handful for Waterford. The information provided includes the claimant’s name, occupation or status (if given), residence (including county), place where loss was sustained, and nature of losses.
