Introduction to Case Studies

One of the most important aspects of this project is to encourage people to take an interest in their local graveyard and to see it as an amazing place for finding out about the history of their local community. To highlight the value of graveyards as places of historical interest and to show how they can be studied to find out more about the past we have commissioned local historians from across Northern Ireland to write about their local burial ground. A variety of graveyards have been covered. Most are in rural areas. Most of the graveyards are mixed, but a few belong exclusively to one particular denomination.
