"The linkage of the UHF Famine Forebears genealogy conference with the Hungry Stream Conference at the Ulster-American Folk Park, Omagh, Co. Tyrone in early September provided the opportunity to hear and meet an array of expert speakers who gave insights into various facets of the calamity of An Gorta Mhor, the Great Hunger.
The Hungry Stream was my reason for going back to Ulster although the opportunity to further my own genealogical research and perhaps to do a bit of fishing helped to justify the trip."
