That Sarah Margaret Ferguson, Duchess of York, is alleged to descend through her father from the first Dukes of
Richmond (1672–1723) and Monmouth (1649–85) has been well documented.1 Rather less well known is that
Miss Ferguson’s paternal family tree – and by extension that of her daughters, TRH Princess Beatrice and Princess
Eugenie of York – also branches into the north of Ireland.
