"One of the most remarkable instances of the successful careers of Ulster emigrants is found in the history of the Wilson family in Victoria, Australia. Four young brothers emigrated from their native place near Ballymena, and settled in Victoria when that colony was in its infancy.
By strenuous exertion, strict probity, and ready enterprise, they successed in amassing very large fortunes, as well as playing important roles in the public life of their adopted country.
One of the brothers, Samuel, was honoured with a knighthood in 1875 in recognition of his contribution to the development of Australia."
This article looks at the Wilson brothers - four brothers who emigrated to Australia in the 19th century, and played very important roles in the public life of their adopted country.
