The Termonmaguirc Historical Society, Co. Tyrone is proud to announce the publication of An Tearmann XI, the first edition in 30 years of this highly regarded local history journal first established in 1978. Revived and developed by a new generation of historians, researchers and community enthusiasts, the publication continues a long tradition of preserving the rich heritage, stories and traditions of Carrickmore, Creggan, Loughmacrory and the surrounding townlands.
Extending to almost 170 full-colour pages, An Tearmann XI presents a fascinating collection of articles, photographs and personal recollections that span from the Bronze Age to modern times. The journal explores a broad range of subjects including archaeology, folklore, farming traditions, emigration, education, commerce, parish life and sporting achievement. Readers will encounter stories of ancient sites and legends, the discovery of bog butter and a crannóg, memories of schooldays and rural life, as well as celebrations of recent sporting successes across the parish.
Compiled by local contributors with a deep love of people and place, the journal brings the history of Termonmaguirc vividly to life. Richly illustrated and carefully researched, An Tearmann XI stands as both a tribute to the parish’s past and an enduring record for future generations at home and abroad.
