The area of Kilwaughter, just outside Larne, is situated in the Barony of Upper Glenarm and overlooked by Agnew’s Hill rising some 1,558 feet above sea level. Neatly tucked beneath the hill is a solid structure, well hidden from the public and known as Kilwaughter Castle which was the ancestral home to the Agnew family for centuries. The curious, whilst driving past Kilwaughter Castle, may stop for a better look at the crumbling shell that was once a family home.
